PolyU Industrial Center
The PolyU IC is a lab center equipped with a complete collection of engineering facilities, equipment and technologies for hands-on learning and laboratory works. It offers a wide range of equipment for the electronic engineering students.
The IC furniture is a series of flexible modular furniture that prompt active learning, encouraging students and teachers to customize their space creatively according to their needs. It consists of 4 types of furniture including movable work desks, two-sided partitions, sofa seating and two-sided mobile storage.
Movable Work Desks
Movable Work Desks can be configured in different group shapes for students in all group sizes. Half of the table surface can be flipped open for accessing the power extension. When flipped open, the compact size allows other tables to be stacked closely for space saving storage. Its two wheels design offers a balance between mobility and stability.
Two-Sided Partition
The Two-Sided (whiteboard and acoustic panel) partition provides a writing surface as well as privacy to the users. By simply aligning the slanted surface of the partition legs, users can form private group discussion areas in hexagonal shapes.
Sofa Seating
With a mobile coffee table stored underneath, the Sofa Seating is a comfortable two seaters that can be rolled anywhere for casual group meetings. When needed, the cushions underneath the table may quickly expands into the third and forth seaters.
Two-Sided Mobile Storage
Two-Sided (whiteboard and acoustic panel) Mobile Storage allows students to store and organize group project materials while it also performs a similar function with the Two-Sided Partition. Their wheels are strategically positioned to achieve compact parking.
PolyU IC Furniture System
Each type of furniture piece can be configured with each other for different purposes and the system provides various classroom layout possibilities. Users can customize their learning or teaching environment creatively hence to boost and smoothen students’ collaboration.
